Mind One Another - MindCon

Mindcon is an initiative helping our club take mental health and well-being seriously before challenges become overwhelming.

Rugby demands focus, resilience, teamwork, and discipline—values that can also help create a culture where players, coaches, and members feel understood and supported, on and off the pitch.
Mindcon encourages open conversations, practical well-being habits, and the confidence to see asking for help as a strength. Whether dealing with stress, pressure, confidence, relationships, work-life balance, or simply feeling “off,” Mindcon helps normalise support and signpost next steps.
Mindcon is more than information. Our support team offers a listening ear without judgement and helps find a pathway forward suited to each situation. When concerns escalate, or you’re unsure what to do, you don’t have to face it alone.

In this club, you are never alone. Just ask.

Together, we can look out for each other and make well-being part of our club’s culture.

Barry Howell
Barry Howell joined Cork Con in 1988. I played senior with the Club until 1996. In those years he was lucky enough to win a Senior Cup in 1989, the very first AIL in 1990/91, and a Junior Cup in 1994. I am now in the privileged position of managing the senior team for the last 4 years, and lucky enough to win the AIL during that time. I am married with 4 adult children, and I am a publican since 1996. I am very involved with Continuing Care programme , helping people with recovery programmes after they finish in treatment centres for addictions. I firmly believe we all need to take care of our own mental health and help others to do that too. We are all in this together.
