At the recent AIB Cup game at Ballymena, Peter Fitzgerald was a welcome addition to the large Cork Con supporter group. While the Cork party accompanied the team on the early morning flight to Belfast Airport and by coach to Ballymena, Peter had driven over from his home in Coleraine for the game.
Unfortunately there were none of Peter’s playing colleagues from his 1949 Munster Junior Cup winning team, which was the first won by the club after ten losing finals. However, he did meet the last winning captain Robert Casey who lifted the trophy in 2008 for the 17th time for the club. And for good measure we had the captain of the 1982 team Finian O’Driscoll present as well.
We can report that Peter is fit and well and as sprightly as ever at 85 years
