Score: Cork Constitution FC 6 V 5 Sundays Well
Venue: Templehill
Date: Fri 4th December 2009
Conditions on Friday night at Temple Hill were very difficult for the players in the U21 South-West Conference tie. Constitution led 6-0 at half time and just about hung on as Sundays Well piled on the pressure in the final minutes.
Darragh Dunne gave Con their first half lead with two well-struck penalties, but despite good possession they could not master the elements enough to press home their advantage. Con’s backs, with Rob Clune and Conor Desmond to the fore, were inventive all through but could not find the scoring pass.
In the second half the strong Well pack gave their side the better possession and kicked for position at every opportunity. Once they got within range of the line they powered over for a try by No.8 Liam Walsh with five minutes to go. The conversion was missed and Con saw out the final minutes to take the points by the narrowest of margins.
