Score: Cork Constitution FC 21 V 11 Dolphin
Venue: Musgrave Park
Date: Sat 27th February 2010

Constitution kept their ambitions of qualification for the All-Ireland play-offs alive with a hard earned win over Dolphin at Musgrave Park on Saturday. Leading 7-5 at the break, they maintained their advantage in the second half to lead 16-11 with 10 minutes remaining. Dolphin attacked strongly in the final minutes, but a break out by Con led to the decisive score by Darragh Dunne to close out the game.

Simon Barry opened the scoring for Constitution with a try in the 15th minute after an attack on the left they swung the ball to the right and Barry went in with a man to spare outside. Dunne added the points. Dolphin hit back in the 37th minute when prop forward Jim Lordan forced his way over from a maul on the line. Con might have extended their lead just before half time bu Eoin O’Donnell lost possession with the line at his mercy. So Con led 7-5 at the break.

The second period was well contested but both sides lost good chances due to handling errors. The scores moved along with Dunne kicking three penalties for Con, while Cormac O’Flynn was successful with two kicks for Dolphin, to leave Con with a 16-11 advantage in the final minutes. Dolphin had a chance on the Con line, but Con cleared and Dunne had the last word with a fine break for 21-11.
