Munster Seconds League South
Score: Cork Constitution FC 18 V 13 Sundays Well
Venue: Musgrave Park
Date: Sun 8th November 2009
Constitution emerged with the league points from a very tight game with Sundays Well at Musgrave Park on Sunday. The Well led 6-3 at the break but in the second half Con outscored the Well by two tries to one to just about shade the contest.
The Well jumped into a 6-0 lead with two penalties after 6 and 12 minutes play. Michael Keyes was successful with a penalty on 26 minutes to reduce the lead, but was unsuccessful with two other attempts. However, he brought the sides level with another penalty after three minutes of the second half.
Con’s forwards were driving well in the tight and were rewarded when Tim Duklow drove over in the 46th minute. Keyes added the points. And the backs finally got left wing Billy Newman away in the 66th minute for the clinching try in the left corner. The Con line survived a few scary moments before the finish, but did concede a converted try in the 78th minute.
There was a 10 minute delay in the first half due to an injury to the Sundays Well No.8. He was taken to hospital as a precaution, but happily his condition improved.
