Score: Cork Constitution FC 15 V 8 Sundays Well
Venue: Templehill
Date: Sun 7th February 2010
Constitution overcame a dogged Sunday’s Well at Temple Hill on Sunday in their final Munster Seconds League game. The game was similar to the first tie between the sides in November where the forward battle for supremacy dominated the play.
Sundays Well opened the scoring with a fine try in the left corner after just three minutes, when full back John Verling made the extra man and crashed over. Colin Corkery kicked a penalty goal on 16 minutes to stretch the Well’s lead to 8-0. Constitution cut the deficit in the 37th minute when Alan Ross got on the end of a drive by the Con forwards. Michael Keyes added the conversion to leave a point between the teams at the interval.
Keyes kicked Con ahead in the opening minutes of the second period with a penalty. Despite dominating throughout the half Con did not get the extra score until the 71st minute. Following a break by Billy Newman carried on by Clive O’Mahony, Tim Dulelow powered over to bring the final score to 15-8.
Next week Constitution return to Munster Junior Cup action with an away fourth round tie with Young Munster.
