Score: Cork Constitution FC 71 V 0 Midleton
Venue: Temple Hill
Date: Sun 11th October 2009

Constitution followed up last week’s Seconds League win over UCC with a fine display of attacking rugby to see off the challenge of Midleton at Temple Hill on Sunday. The threequarter line had a field day scoring twelve tries and capitalising on their forward’s dominance.

A break by Michael Keyes led to the first try by captain Tim Kenneally after 10 minutes. Simon Zebo converted and added a penalty after 15 minutes for 10-0. Billy Newman and Zebo added tries on 18 and 30 minutes before Michael Keyes finished a superb break by Cyprien Jouve to leave the half-time score 25-0.

Simon Zebo finished a good passing movement with a try in the right corner after 34 minutes and he added the points when Con added another try before the break after Peter Kelleher touched down from an unstoppable maul. However, College kept the game alive with a try by Mike Lenihan in injury time.

Zebo and David O’Driscoll stretched the lead to 37-0 in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Zebo scored a scorcher through the middle and converted on the hour mark. Cyprien Jouve was on hand to finish a break by Billy Newman on 68 minutes and Mark Coughlan scored in the right corner three mintues later for 54-0. Con maintained the pressure to the end and scored three further tries in the final 10 minutes from Newman, Zebo (his fourth) and Jouve.
