Score: Cork Constitution FC 30 V 6 Dolphin
Venue: Templehill
Date: Sun 17th January 2010
Constitution avenged the first round defeat by Dolphin at Temple Hill on Sunday. The game was switched from Musgrave Park, and the Con ground was in perfect condition despite an AIL game on the previous day.
Constitution led 12-6 at half time, scored two tries in each half and secured a comfortable victory showing good form despite not playing a game since Dec.20th. Both sides missed penalty chances before Simon Zebo opened the scoring with a try in the left corner in the 19th minute. Brian Hayes scored at the posts in the 24th minute to which Michael Keyes added the points. Dolphin got on the board with two penalties by Cormac O’Flynn before the break.
Michael Keyes extended Con’s lead to 18-6 with penalties on 45 and 57 minutes, as Con continued to dominate. They finished with tries from Cyprien Jouve and last year’s club captain, Brendan Cuttriss, who was playing his first game of the season. Keyes added a conversion to complete the scoring.
