Score: Cork Constitution FC 36 V 0 Clonakilty
Venue: The Vale
Date: Sun 18th October 2009
Constitution overcame Clonaklity at The Vale on Sunday. After a slow start they scored two tries in the 10 minutes before half time to lead 12-0 at the break. In the second half they improved their team work and ran in a further four tries without reply.
A shower of rain at the start of the game did not help the handling and the early exchanges were fraught with mistakes on both sides. The first real chance came on 35 minutes when a break by Peter Kelleher carried on by John Noonan gave the supporting Robert Clune a scoring pass and he went in under the posts. Simon Barry converted, and just before the break Alan Ross won the race to touchdown a loose ball following pressure on the Clonakilty line.
Cyprien Jouve set off from his own 22 for a fine individual try in the 50th minute and Robert Clune scored his second with a well-timed run through the centre in the 65th minute for Barry to convert. Jouve and Barry added further tries in the final minutes and Barry converted his own try to complete the scoring.
